Chief Akurienne Paul Chisom Anyaegbunam – A Tribute 03-OCT-1962 - 13-OCT-2012 Paul Chisom was born in Kano, Nigeria on 03-OCT-1962 to the family of Chief Akurienne Bernard and Madam Alice Anyaegbunam. Both of his parents are late. He had his early primary school days in Kano, Nigeria. His early school days were disrupted by the Nigerian civil war and his family moved down to south-east of Nigeria. Young Paulo as he is favourably referred to by family members completed his primary school in Enugu and got admission into National Grammar School Nike, Enugu. After his final year and the school certificate examinations, he got employed in the civil service and had a brief career in the service. While in the employment of the Inland Revue he paid his way studying Finance at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu, Nigeria. A few years after his studies and his graduation from IMT, he left the civil service in an early retirement and joined his big brother, Chief Nnayelugo, in his construction and general contract business. Paul had years of apprenticeship and practice in the business before setting out on his own. He ever since remained in self employment till his death on 13-OCT-2012. He was a husband, father, coach, mentor, pastor and an all around great guy. Many remember Paul because of the profound and loving impact he had on them. It was in the field of business that he found his true passion for industry, working in the service of humanity. Paul was the kind of guy that you would want in your team; he is a one man army and an executor. He had no fear of what tomorrow will bring and he gives generously. My brother was generous and charitable. He was a chip off the old block, little wonder that he changed his Ozo Ogidi title to Akurienne, the title name of his father in his life time. He is a lover of family; anybody’s trouble was his and he will spare no expense in doing whatever it takes to lift the troubles off the person. He calls it as he sees it and he is ever ready to ask for forgiveness where he is wrong. There are no grey areas where Paul is concern - it is either black or white with Paul. Paul was a man of no half measures, he was no pretender, he was either with you or he is not; you will certainly know where you stand with Paul. Paul was a believer; he lived his life in his chosen faith and die while in service of God. What a way to be called home for eternal rest. Call me simple minded but that says it all for me. Adieus brother, adieus. Chief Felix Anyaegbunam & family.
